After 33 years of selfless service to the United States Air Force, we retired my dad on June 1st.
It’s a lot to process: How proud I am of my father and his reliance on Jesus through this journey.
The fact that this military journey—which has made up my entire life so far—has finally come to a close for my parents.
The span of the world we lived in and traveled to, and the people we learned to love along the way.
The Lord’s goodness and graciousness to us as a family and the cohesion and deep relationship He has given us together amidst serving our country.
The great cloud of witnesses: The family and friends that the Lord brought to spur us on and support us—He provision and enablement to do what we did.
I’m thankful. So, so thankful. And trying to file away all the memories from such a full week, so that I can go back and linger on them in thought and prayer in the quiet moments in the years to come.
Daddy, thank you for your sacrifice and service, and for your commitment to Jesus, our family, and your country.
Mommy, thank YOU for helping and enabling Daddy to do everything He did, for Christ, family, and country. The team the two of you make, we will forever be striving to emulate.
And by the grace of Jesus, as Jefferson said at the end of the ceremony, standing their shoulder to shoulder with Wyatt and Charlie:
We have the watch.
